Chebika is the first of a series of mountain oases near the border with Algeria. Chebika used to be one of the most isolated places in all of Tunisia until a road was built there in the last ten or twenty years. In Chebika you can still see many people wearing tattoos around the eyes which look like the old black and white French Foreign Legion movies. It makes them have very beautiful and dark eyes. Girls, watch out! You might just fall in love with a Chebika boy!
This is a new NGO local cooperative just starting up. They are producing a sort of jam from dates from the oasis. It was pretty yummy.
