This morning I woke up to a winter wonderland here in Golden. The temperature was below 0F at my townhouse up near the Jefferson County Courthouse. I decided to walk to work at the Colorado School of Mines rather than negotiate the roads with my Subaru.
My walk to work goes through a pretty little gully. Even in the snow it is pretty. There were only a few other sets of tracks on the path. Not may people commute by foot when it’s cold out here.
After I passed the disjointed section of trail, there was only one set of footprints. Based on the stride length, the person was running. Coloradans are serious about their exercise!
Visibility was limited to about a half mile due to the continuing snow.
The snow here in Golden is different than low elevation snow in the Willamette Valley out in Oregon. I’m used to wet, heavy snow that gets you soaked. Today’s snow storm was dry and light. I was quite content in my summer hiking boots and with some Yak Trax to get to campus today.

Even with the snow storm, Coors Brewing keeps cranking out tasty beverages.
Sir, I disagree with your labeling of Coors-brand beverages as “tasty”.
Taste buds change at high altitude. We can do the Coors tour next time you’re in Denver. Maybe one of the local-only available beers that they make will suffice for your discerning palate?
Was it hard for you to describe Coors beer “tasty?” It was hard for me to read.
When you come on Friday, we can go try it first-hand and you can tell me what you think. It certainly will be cold enough to drink!
OK. The pictures are absolutely gorgeous. Postcard quality stuff man. And Coors? Love the stuff. I never developed my taste buds for the fine grain, malted mixed, heavy, light, smokey, musky, wood, aluminum flavors of beer. I just like beer and Coors is on my list. Have fun Uncle Doug. P.S. LED conversion almost complete.
Ting!
Send me pictures when you’re done with the LED conversion. And maybe some sort of write-up, too. When I have time (HA! when will that ever be?!), I will post them on my site and put them in the big list of links for you. You’ll be PC800-famous!
I have come to a point in my life where I appreciate a 10.7% honey and heather ingredient beer that’s been aged in a Cabernet barrel but I also appreciate a good Coors Banquet. It isn’t a bad place to be. No matter where I go, I can find a beer that is at least passable.
Cheers!
