After a wonderful fall in Colorado, we settled into our townhouse and continued to explore all that Colorado has to offer.
January Forays
First Visit to Colorado Springs
- Garden of the Gods – A beautiful collection of red rocks jutting at odd angles from the Earth.
- Manitou Springs – The cute little tourist town is back in action after recent floods and fires.
- Pikes Peak – We drove up the Pikes Peak Highway to the top of the world for some amazing views and breathless walking.
Other January Activities
- Loveland Pass with Heather’s Mom – We headed up to Loveland Pass to take in the view.
- On the Way to Breckenridge – After Loveland Pass, we headed toward Breckenridge in the snow.
- The Ice Sculpture Festival in Breckenridge – We stumbled upon the ice sculpture festival in Breckenridge.
- The Broadmoor – I stayed for a conference at The Broadmoor Hotel in Colorado Springs.
February Happenings
- Elk Outside the Townhouse – We had a little herd of elk come to visit.
- Around Red Rocks and Golden in the Snow – The snow makes everything so pretty near Golden.
March Madness
- Jordan Pease Master’s Thesis Defense – My graduate student, Jordan Pease, defended his thesis and passed with flying colors.
- 3D Printing a Prosthetic Mold – Jordan Pease used the equipment in the new Colorado School of Mines Design Lab to print out molds of his arm for use in creating prosthetics.
