Don Porter Covered Bridge

The Don Porter Covered Bridge is very similar to the Rock O’ the Range Covered Bridge outside of Bend.  Someone, evidently named Don Porter, put up a roof over top of a conventional bridge on his property.  All of the NO TRESPASSING signs and the barking dogs convinced me to not get closer to the bridge.  It seems that Don Porter has either moved or else has decided that folks who collect covered bridges are more trouble than they’re worth.

It should be noted that this bridge isn’t on the Oregon Covered Bridge Society’s list of bridges nor is it recognized by any other organization aside from a website about Southern Oregon.  A strict purist could easily skip this bridge without harm.  Incidentally, this bridge is a little difficult to locate.  Keep going past the “End County Maintenance” sign maybe 1000-2000 feet and look to the right.  It’s down the hill on a paved road in the woods.
