After getting up early to make the train to Zagreb, we managed to get onto the train from Zagreb going in the opposite direction. We were nearly to the Austrian border before the mistake was identified by the conductor. It turns out that there were several other parties on the train that made the same mistake. We all were set down on a platform in the countryside and told to wait for the next local train back to Ljubljana. An hour later, we were back in the city and with an all-day wait on our hands. We spied this interesting triangular building while bumming around Ljubljana waiting for the next train.
An interesting gilded bike downtown.
The flower market was running.
Waiting for our train.
Lots of interesting rolling stock at the Ljubljana train depot.
It started raining while we were waiting. We went to wander the city in the rain.
THe three bridges downtown didn’t have many tourists due to the rain.
Kristen being less than pleased about the situation.
The church bells started ringing at noon while we sat and watched the few tourists scamper from dry spot to dry spot on the square.
We found a Chinese restaurant in Ljubljana with good vegetarian options for lunch.
It was a welcome place to wait out the rain and wait for our train to come.
