Coming out of Como, Colorado, we headed up along the old Denver, South Park, and Pacific railbed toward Boreas Pass. The last time we tried to do this road, we got stuck not far from the summit coming from Breckenridge. This time I was prepared with extra traction devices to get us unstuck and on our way should we find deep snow again.
It looks like dredging happened here to retrieve gold that the creek deposited.
Our first glimpse of snow.
Having a fun time driving through the slushy snow.
Lots of spray was thrown up from the slush and mud.
Panorama not far from the summit on the south side of the pass.
Up at the summit. The old Colorado and Southern boxcar marks the top of the pass.
This is also the continental divide. The old railroad section house is behind the sign.
Panorama of the summit with the east view in the middle of the shot.
Looking north toward Breckenridge.
Panorama down a mile from the top of the summit heading north to Breckenridge.
