I rode my Honda Pacific Coast PC800 motorcycle to work today. It’s been running well enough the last few months but I hadn’t really taken it on a long jaunt. As I was going through Sherwood, I started smelling gas. By the time I got to work, the bike was peeing out gas.
I disassembled the bike behind the office to try and fix the issue. A little premium gasoline and some seafoam, and I was able to get the float valve unstuck that was causing the float bowls to overflow and dump fuel out of the vent port on the back side of the carb. However, I can tell this problem is going to keep coming back. It’s time to search for a new carb. I’ve rebuilt this carb enough times that I’m getting sick of it.
Hi! I have the same problem now – what can I do? thx!
Howdy Tomasz!
I used Seafoam to get the carb float valve un-stuck. Seafoam is an engine cleaner. There are several products that do the same job. They all work by removing the gunk from old gasoline that can clog the carbs.
What I do is drain most of the gas from the gas tank. Then I put a whole bottle of Seafoam into the tank. Then I run the bike enough to be sure that the gas with Seafoam has been sucked up into the carbs. Then I let it sit about 15 minutes. Then I run the bike again. I keep doing that until the leak stops. At that point, I fill the tank with fresh gas and ride the bike for at least 10 miles to make sure the gas in the carbs and fuel system is fully diluted, and isn’t a high concentration of Seafoam. You don’t want to leave a high concentration of Seafoam in your fuel system because it can attack rubber hoses and O-rings over time.
Cheers,

Thank You for fast response! Now all is clear! This is strange because I cleaned carbs two months ago – so maybe valve is blocked after winter? I will try with cleaner. By the way – I’ts dangerous when fuel leaking straight onto engine! So I will connect this line with this who going from plastic tray. A lot of Health!
