Chrome bullet hits Carl

Rode with Carl.  From my house out along 53rd avenue to Highway 20.  Turned off on Highway 34 just past Philomath.  Turned onto Dekart Road after missing the turn.  Something hit Carl in the shin.  It most likely was a chrome bullet cover for my license plate holder.  Turned south at the end of Dekart road and went to Belfountain where we took a right and rode out until we hit a dead end at an old ramshackled lumber mill.  Rode back to Belfountain and then on farther east to 99W.  Came up 99W back to Corvallis and home.

50ish miles.

Bumpy road on old 99W

Trip with Carl from my house on 18th street in Corvallis, Oregon out along the Independence Highway to Independence, Oregon.  Then to Monmouth, Oregon where we turned southbound on Highway 99w for a few miles before taking a right turn and then a left onto the old 99w complete with very bumpy cement road surface.  Just after the old 99w rejoins the new 99w, we turned right and ran out along a country road for a ways before we turned around on account of Carl being a bit low on gas.  Returned to Corvallis on 99w.  Stopped for gas at the Towne Pump near Fred Meyers.  Got 2.214 gallons at $4.199/gallon for $9.30 of gas.  Total miles on that tank was 114.6.  Fuel economy was ~52mpg.  That was city driving, mountain roads, highway driving, and testing the bike while we finished repairing it.  Total tank capacity is 3.5 gallons meaning I had 1.2ish gallons till bone dry.

Total of 65 miles.

Ride your bike to work day

Rode my bike from my place past Brenton’s to see if he was awake yet.  It was Take Your Bike to Work day.  Parked my bike on the brick mall next to the MU Quad on campus.  There were about 40ish bikes.  I have photos on my camera phone.  Will upload them somewhere eventually.  The clutch was a bit grabby in 1st gear and I popped out of 1st into neutral a couple times when it was cold.

5 miles.
