Quick Motorcycle Ride Up Lookout Mountain Before the Storms

I took a quick ride up Lookout Mountain at lunch today before the thunderstorms rolled in from the high country.  It was a good ride although I ran out of gas just as I pulled into the gas station near the park and ride lots at the top of the ridge between Golden and Morrison.

Getting Closer with the Honda Pacific Coast PC800 Fuel Injection Tuning

I spent some time today on my Honda PC800 fuel injection conversion project.  I am getting the tune file together so that I am ready to take the bike to a dyno for final tuning.  The biggest things that I still need to address are 1) tidy up the wires, 2) adjust the TPS sensor so that it can sense low throttle positions, 3) finish up the primary tune, 3) figure out the enrichment settings for startup/warmup and acceleration.

I’m going to try setting up a very old NetBook running Ubuntu with TunerStudio so that I can have the ability to modify my tune while I’m out and riding.  Also that will allow me to more easily log data.  At some point I’ll probably get the BlueTooth wireless adapter to be able to log data with my phone while I ride.

Slowly but surely my bike is coming along!  By summer, I think I’ll be out and riding again.

Sunday Ride to Central City and Back Again

Heather and I took the Yamaha XS1100 Special out for a ride up I-70 to the Central City Parkway, through Central City and Blackhawk, and then down Clear Creek Canyon back to Golden.  The weather was good but we got cold at the top of the parkway where it gets close to 9000 feet above sea level.

The XS1100 is running well aside from the octopus vacuum petcock not functioning.  The next time I am low on gas, I will remove the tank and attempt surgery on that petcock to get it fully functional with my spare parts collection.  Good thing the manual petcocks have a “reserve” setting that bypasses the octopus petcock!
