Belfountain, Peoria, and Around

Outside of Philomath the fields have all been harvested for their hay.  Dimple Hill and Mc Culloch Peak are visible in this panorama.  So is the hill that Fitton Green sits upon.

Country Boys Gas in Belfountain.  I don’t think it’s been open while I’ve been in Corvallis.

The old gas tanks rusting in the sun.

The painting on the door says it all.  Gone fishin’

Just outside Peoria the fields have already been plowed.

Motorcycle Dinner Ride to Newport with Ashley

Yesterday evening Ashley and I rode out to Newport for dinner.  Here you can see a meeting of the metric motorcycles.

After having dinner at Rogue Public House, we stopped for a photo near the old Newport lighthouse.  The weather on the coast was ideal for riding but inland it was rather hot.

For a Ninja 250, that little bike can really haul.

The sun was about to be extinguished in the Pacific Ocean as we left Newport.

One of the NOAA research vessels was leaving the protection of the harbor and jetty.  It is visible just behind the couple by the railing.  Having NOAA relocate fleet operations to Newport has been a huge boost to the local economy and is a real source of pride for the town.

The Yaquina Bay Bridge behind some trees.

One last view before we headed back to Corvallis.

The Last of the Covered Bridges

This last weekend I completed my quest to visit every covered bridge in the state of Oregon. With temperatures hovering between 97 and 100 F between Grants Pass and Medford, I was happy to have the ample storage capacity afforded by the PC800’s trunk for the several gallons of water I carried and consumed. The salt packets I got at Wendy’s were a real life saver. This 17 hour ride covered about 650 miles from start to finish.

Now that I am done collecting covered bridges, what will I do next?
