Kings Valley and Lewisburg Saddle

From my house to Jaime’s house to pick her up.  We went out Highway 20 to the Highway 223 (Kings Valley Highway) turn.  Jaime’s bike can only go a maximum of 55mph which makes it interesting to drive on the main highways.  Highway 223 had about 10 miles of loose chip gravel on the road surface as they were repaving it.  It was a rather miserable part of the ride.  We turned right at one point where the road takes a sharp left to stay on the main highway.  Out in the country, we tried taking several different roads to connect over to Sulfur Springs Road and Lewisberg Saddle but each ended in gravel which we didn’t want to try.  We ended up going out to 99W and down to the road past the garbage dump.  We took it and went out Sulfur Springs Road and over Lewisburg Saddle.  Then we road back into Corvallis via Highland.

65 miles total.

First bike maintenance

Drained and replaced engine oil (50 Weight – NOTE: WRONG OIL FOR BIKE! USE 10W40!). There was almost none in the engine when I bought the bike.  Replaced filter with Fram filter. Found that there was no oil in the final drive. Put new oil in it. Flushed and replaced fluid in coolant system. Replaced kickstand spring. Carl helped me with most of the work. All of this was done during the month of July.

Chrome bullet hits Carl

Rode with Carl.  From my house out along 53rd avenue to Highway 20.  Turned off on Highway 34 just past Philomath.  Turned onto Dekart Road after missing the turn.  Something hit Carl in the shin.  It most likely was a chrome bullet cover for my license plate holder.  Turned south at the end of Dekart road and went to Belfountain where we took a right and rode out until we hit a dead end at an old ramshackled lumber mill.  Rode back to Belfountain and then on farther east to 99W.  Came up 99W back to Corvallis and home.

50ish miles.
