Milo Academy Covered Bridge

The Milo Academy Covered Bridge is a steel bridge that is covered with a wooden roof.  I believe this is the only bridge that I’ve encountered like this in Oregon.  At some point it was an entirely wooden bridge but the span was replaced with steel.  The community decided they wanted the aesthetic of a covered bridge again and thus the cover was put on it.

Someone hit the edge of the bridge once.  I guess that structural member isn’t all that important…

There is a rope swing attached to the bottom of the bridge.

The rope swing hanging down from the bridge must be fun to play on when the days are hot like they were when I visited the Milo Academy Covered Bridge.  It was 97 F that day.

Canyon Creek Covered Bridge

This pedestrian footpath bridge spans between Pioneer Park in Canyonville and an adjacent gravel lot.  It was under repair when I visited.  I believe that they are painting it.

Tarp under the bridge to catch drips from falling in the creek.

Neal Lane Covered Bridge

The Neal Lane Covered Bridge is a rather short affair.  It is on an active road.  It seems the locals are pretty used to people parking their cars on the side of the road to snap a photo like I did.

It still has wooden supports sitting on concrete piers.
