Dusk Hike with Christy

Christy and I went out hiking a few days ago just after sunset in the McDonald-Dunn Forest.  We launched from the Oak Creek Research Station.

There were wild daisies everywhere.

Rock O’ the Range Covered Bridge

The Rock O’ the Range Covered Bridge is not a true truss bridge like most of the rest of the covered bridges in Oregon.  Instead, it appears to be a normal wood span that had a shed added to the top.  Still, it’s pretty neat seeing the bridge halfway between Bend and Redmond.

Someone did not observe the height limit.  Many of the support members have been knocked out of place by tall trucks since the recent renovation of the roof of the bridge.

Cavitt Creek Covered Bridge

I nearly got myself in a real pickle getting a photo of the Cavitt Creek Covered Bridge.  The only place to put my bike was on a very soft, very steep shoulder.  I was lucky enough to not tip my bike over and to be able to get it back out onto the road after I got my photo.  On the way to the bridge, I saw a semi truck on fire.  At the bridge, I nearly got hit twice by inattentive drivers coming off of the main road and onto the bridge.  This was still a very lovely bridge though.
