Brent and I went up McCulloch peak on Sunday to reintroduce me to mountain biking. It’s been a few months and I was out of shape.
Mac forest scramble with Brenton
Today Brenton and I went out on a little mountain bike ride in Mac Forest. We rode from in town out Highland Drive, up Crescent Valley Road, and then up to the Jackson Creek parking area. From there, we took one of the 600 roads up and around to Upper Horse trail, onto another road, and up onto the 650 and the top of Dimple Hill. On the way back we bombed down Dan’s Trail and tied into the Timber Hill housing project to get back into town. In total the ride was around 16 miles of muddy fun.
Camping in a yurt in Newport
A few weekends back, Emily, myself, Carl, Bobby, and a few friends drove over to Newport to go camp in a yurt for a few days. Our original plan was for Bobby and me to go diving for some fun. In the end, we never even tried to get into the water. A very high tide coupled with monsoon rains, hail, snow, ice, 30 foot swells, breakers coming into the parking lot at the south jetty, and logs rolling everywhere in the water made us a bit nervous to get into the drink. We still had a grand time hanging out in the yurt, trying and failing to catch crabs, and walking to the beach to watch the storm.
Here are a few pictures.
