Working in the Woods

With all of the dead sugar pine and white pine, we have been busy cutting down 100-200 year old trees, bucking them up, and getting ready to make them into lumber.

A portable sawmill came up to the meadows to make some lumber out of all this dead wood.

Beautiful planks.  They are all blue-stained from the fungus that comes with the pine beetles.

Lifting Some Logs at Camp El-O-Win

20160626_145038_Richtone(HDR)

We headed over to Camp El-O-Win to help take down and stack a couple of trees that recently died in the drought.  This year the creek is flowing better than last year.

We moved the logs into a stack to cover them with plastic.  The beetles that are helping to kill all these trees get trapped in the plastic and die rather than spread.

Spending Some Time on the Meadows

After driving out from Colorado, it sure was nice to get to my parents’ meadows.
