The Robotics and Automation Lab has been busy printing some demonstration pieces on their research 3D printer. They have printed out some gear blocks and a trapped gear bearing.
They have also been working on scanning in one of the graduate students in order to 3D print him, too.
The digital model is coming along quite well.
The big Blaster print is done. This was made from the 3D scan that they took yesterday of the statue.
Some graduate students in the Robotics and Automation Laboratory in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the Colorado School of Mines digitized the “A Friend to Lean On” statue in front of Guggenheim Hall on the Mines campus yesterday.
Professor Jered Dean helped out.
This is the 3D model with some support structure added to prepare for 3D printing.
