Twin Lakes

Twin Lakes reminds me quite a bit of some of the views that Kristen and I saw in New Zealand.

An amazingly decked out Ford pickup we saw at the boat parking area.

A lone sailboat moored out on the lake.

In the little town of Twin Lakes.  We tried to eat at this place but they were completely full.

Heading over this road leads to Aspen.

Beautiful views from the man-made Turquoise Lake just outside Leadville, Colorado.

Tunnel from the west side of the continental divide.  Lots of water is diverted in Colorado from its proper home in the Colorado River to rivers that flow east to the Mississippi River.  I suspect someday that the water will be returned to its proper watershed.  That day is a long way off though.

Camp Hale

IMG_6012
The remnants of the entertainment hall at Camp Hale.  Once the home of the 10th Mountain Division, now all that is left is a pretty mountain valley filled with old ammunition and unexploded ordinance.  Don’t go off the roads!

Looking down the valley.

Looking up the valley near an old pond.  Beavers have moved into it and are having a ball.

Up at the pass dedicated to the 10th Mountain Division just up from old Camp Hale.
