After our adventure over Guanella Pass, Heather and I stopped off for a tour of the Hiwan Homestead. It is an interesting and odd look at the past, and at how the well-to-do of Denver used to live.
Guanella Pass
Looking back down toward Georgetown as we head up the northern approach to Guanella Pass.
Getting into the high country.
Near the top of the pass.
Looking north toward Georgetown.
Looking south.
Looking southwest down the other side of Guanella Pass.
At the top of Guanella Pass.
Descending the south side of the pass just below the abandoned ski area.
Down in some big meadows.
Silver Dale Hike
The little mining camp of Silverdale is long since gone but the area now is home to some great walking paths and a few historical pieces of scrap metal.
Water is running high from snow melt.
Mountains in the distance.
A little lake where Georgetown draws its municipal water.
Heather next to some water.
The shaky bridge to get across the swollen stream.
