Waking up Next to a Waterfall on Highway 939

After driving most of the mud and rock Highway 939, I pulled off the road and slept in my car overnight.  The rain pounded down all night long.  The back of a Yaris is not particularly comfortable.

This pullout had a plaque dedicated to the man who built the road.

 What a waterfall!

 looking down the fjord.

Time to get back on the road.

Back on the road.

Neskaupstaður at Night

I rolled into Neskaupstaður in a downpour and at dusk.

The anemic street lights cast a bare glow on the rain-soaked streets.

I bet the town would be pretty in the daylight and if it weren’t raining.  After seeing the camping area, I decided to keep driving in hopes of finding somewhere a bit drier to sleep.
