Windy Ridge

The big pyroclastic flows and a whole side of the mountain came thundering down into Spirit Lake and created the huge plains seen here.

Harmony Point and Spirit Lake

IMG_0440Heather and I decided to hike from Harmony Point down to Spirit Lake to see the huge rafts of dead trees up close.  I have seen the trees floating in Spirit Lake since I was a child but I never got up close and personal with them before.

Somewhere deep below this sea of logs is the old lake shoreline, old camps and campgrounds, an old lodge, and an old guy with his many cats who wouldn’t leave.
