Tiburon and the Ferry

On the ride back we watched this sailboat nearly capsize several times.  The captain always saved it but it made me wonder if he was either very skilled or a beginner.

Tiburon is an adorable town.

The fog rolled in as we headed back to San Francisco.

Angel Island Immigration Station

The Angel Island Immigration Station is the western Ellis Island.  However, much worse things happened here than back east.  Various exclusion acts were carried out here which denied many immigrants from Asia entry into the country.

The detention barracks on the right in the back.

The old heating plant.

The bell.

Many ships filled with immigrants tied up on a pier that used to stick out in the water here.

The old administration building used to stand where the steps now are located.

One of the dorm rooms where immigrants slept three high.

Poems etched on the wall.
