Leaving Germany

The kitchen in the little apartment I rented a room from.  It was always very tidy and very German-looking.  Only one of the three other roommates was really there over the summer.  She was from Iran and doing her PhD at the university.

My little room.  My desk and my bed with a window at one end of the room.

The door into the room, the only storage in the room, and the bed.

The Karlsruhe train station near sunset.  Nina had given me a picture from near this very spot many years before when she stayed with my family.  I actually found it a few days after my return to America.

Freiburg im Breisgau

The cathedral in the middle of the city.

They were working on restoring and preserving part of the building.

A street market was setting up as I wandered by.

This little trough ran the length of the downtown.  It had a lively little creek bubbling down through it.  I followed its path for quite some distance.

Still following the little creek.

Mc Donald’s has invaded Freiburg.

Burger King was not far away.

Nina sent me back to Karlsruhe with a Toblerone present from Switzerland.  Yum!

Haunted Castle

On the way back to Freiburg im Breisgau from Switzerland, Nina and I stopped off at a castle at twilight. Taking photos in the low light soon revealed some spirits about.

Looking down on a nearby village.

And then a spirit came to visit my photo.
