In October of 2013 I had a conference in New Orleans. I managed to sneak away for a few hours to check out the touristy parts of the city. The Big Easy is an interesting mix of faded French glory and modern infrastructure.
- Trolleys on Canal Street – One of the main arteries of downtown New Orleans reminds me a lot of similar avenues in other former French cities
- The French Quarter and Bourbon Street – A morning stroll through the French Quarter and along Bourbon Street yields all sorts of surprises and smells.
- The Mississippi River and Flood Control – Why on earth the city of New Orleans remains where it is considering the flood risk is beyond me.
- Dinner in the National World War II Museum Hangar – The conference held a gala dinner in the hangar under the planes.
