Rebuilt forks and modified hemlet

Over the last two weeks I rebuilt the forks on my motorcycle.  After one of the seals blew out I decided it was time.  The oil inside was pretty gross even though it was only serviced a few thousand miles ago.  There is also a strange set of springs inside the forks that no one was able to identify.  Eventually I’ll post photos of the whole operation.

Also I’ve been modifying my helmet to make it quieter.  It’s getting better but still not great.  Next step is to put a sun visor on it and see how that works.  Photos of that eventually, too.

Testing out different windshield configurations

Yesterday I went for a quick ride while I was feeling okay (I’ve been sick off and on for the last week and continue to be) to test out different windshield configurations for my PC800.  I’m thinking about getting a taller windshield or making or buying a laminar lip shield.  Still haven’t decided but it was nice to ride with a taller windshield.   Decisions decisions…

Total distance was about 25 miles.  I went back and forth along one stretch of road testing out different shield heights several times.

Now my bike is in pieces again as I try to fix the front fork seals.  Of course I managed to get a bushing stuck and now I have to wait till next Tuesday for a part I need.
