Fuel Injection Update

It’s been a while since I posted on the project…

Things are coming along slowly. I’ve been quite busy with academic matters. This is my conference paper “busy season.”

A couple days ago I got in a 2008 CBR600RR throttle body set. After messing around with the single Dodge Neon throttle body, I decided I should stick with dual throttle bodies that already have injectors mounted properly. These throttle bodies will take some modification but it doesn’t look like an impossible job. The worst that can happen is I end up with eight good injectors.

Talking with a member of the IPCRC today the idea struck me that the duckbill on the back of the PC800 could make the perfect place to mount all of the electronics. There is plenty of space in that plastic bit. However it’s hard to get to and has no venting so it might get too hot in the summer for sensitive electronics. Have to think about that a little more but it is a possibility.

This project will come to fruition. It just might take a few months.

Back roads ride with Carl while Jesi and Brent chase behind

A few months back Carl and I went for a motorcycle road along some of the back roads of the Oregon Coast Range.  Jesi and Brent followed in Brent’s sports car.  Jesi served as photographer for the expedition.  It took me a while to get these photos up but finally… here they are!

Carl rolling over the top of the hill with me out of sight around the corner.

Gliding around the corners.

Trying to look around the narrow one-lane trestle underpass to see if it’s all-clear for us to proceed.

A Honda and a Harley can get along after all!

Into the primeval forests of the coast range.

Down a mud road toward Siletz.

This feels like something out of The Road or maybe some post-apocalyptic view of the world.  Just two gray riders surrounded by a gray landscape.  I’m thinking about getting a print of this made and framing it.

Into the darkened woods and the unknown.

Do I have a squirrel infestation?

I found this in the trunk of my PC800 yesterday when I was getting ready to go for a ride.  Last fall I found a couple similar pieces of dog food and I thought “oh one of my friends must have had some on the bottom of their bag…”

Well this time I found about a cup worth.  The bike had been sitting for about two weeks due to bad weather and school.  I know there wasn’t all of this in there before I parked it.  How in the world could an animal be getting into the trunk to put all this in there?  I hope they aren’t chewing on any wires or hoses!
