PC800 3D scan of crash bar side cover

Thanks to Sebastián Melella, a PCer from Argentina, we now have a wonderful 3D scan of the left hand front crash bar cover (the “fairing protector” which is labeled as #7 in the frame cover removal chart in the service manual) for our Honda Pacific Coast PC800 motorcycles. Someone should be able to use this file to 3D print replacement covers. If you have success printing this part, please let me know so that we can share information on how you did it.

The file is available here as a 3dm file format inside of a ZIP file.

Thanks again to Sebastián!

3D printing wheels for the CSM Lunabotics team

Yesterday afternoon we had four of the MakerBot Replicator 2X machines fired up and running to print out the wheels for the CSM Lunabotics competition team.  It is impressive to see so many 3D printers running and producing parts.

Exciting news! The Colorado School of Mines and the 3D Printing Store are now officially collaborating

Today was an exciting day here in the mechanical engineering department at the Colorado School of Mines.  We are now officially collaborating with The 3D Printing Store on a range of topics related to additive manufacturing.  Already we are working on putting together an additive manufacturing professional development short course for this summer and are working on several interesting research initiatives.  The sky is the limit with this relationship.
