Black Canyon of the Gunnison

The Black Canyon of the Gunnison is an amazing crack in the ground that we had the opportunity to visit.  Its deepness and the steepness of the cliffs is really impressive in person.

This is such a pretty place to spend a day or two.

The rock is beautiful in the late afternoon light.

Long sun rays stretch out over the landscape.

The river stretching along the bottom of the canyon.

Marshall Pass

Off on our next adventure, we went over Marshall Pass on our way to Black Canyon of the Gunnison.

This is the remnants of an old building that was part of the Denver and Rio Grande narrow gauge railroad.  The line over this pass was the first railroad to cross the continental divide in Colorado and connected Salt Lake City to Denver.  Now the old rail bed makes a nice drive for a car.
