Up and Over Alsea Falls to Alpine and Beyond

This afternoon, Jordan and I went on a nice little ride up and over Alsea Falls.  It turns out that the center stand on the XS850 is the first thing to ground out when going hot into corners.  I do believe that I might remove it very soon.  Other than left hand turns, I was able to keep up with Jordan’s Duke just fine.  For a 31 year old motorcycle, the XS850 runs pretty darn well!

Long ride while sick on the PC800

This morning when I woke up I was pretty sick. After a few sudafeds I didn’t feel any better. I couldn’t clear my ears and was feeling pretty rotten. Today I was supposed to drive up to Washington to go diving for the weekend. Not wanting to get everyone sick, I stayed in Corvallis. In the afternoon I was still feeling yucky but I decided it was time to get out and do something. In retrospect it probably wasn’t the smartest thing to do but I jumped on the PC800 and took off to points unknown.

The total ride was about 130 miles. I got gas in Junction City. The bike took 2.88 gallons. The last fill-up was 112.8 miles before. That would give me 39.1 mpg. However, I lost a fair amount of gas to the maintenance I performed over the last month.

Territorial Highway Loop

I went on a motorcycle ride yesterday afternoon by myself. Everyone else was busy or doesn’t have their bike in town. The ride took me out through Philomath, out a ways on the Alsea Highway, up and over to the Belfountain Highway, down through Alpine, out to Monroe, down the Territorial Highway, through Junction City, up Peoria Road, and back to Corvallis. The mileage for the ride was 82.6.

Had to purchase gas. 74.4 miles on the last tank. 1.519 gallons to fill it. Gas mileage: 49 mpg.
