St Louis for a conference

I wen to St Louis, Missouri for the ASME IDETC/CIE conferences. My flight was delayed and I barely made it in time. It’s lucky that I did because I received an award for best paper! The conference was held in the old Union Station that’s been restored to its former grandeur. But now there’s only one track (somewhere) that has an Amtrak train pull in. The rest of the station is used for other purposes.

Quick trip to Anaheim

I zipped down to Anaheim on my Honda Pacific Coast PC800 motorcycle for a conference to present a few papers.

While I didn’t spend much time outside the hotel, I did get some videos going through Big Sur on my motorcycle.

That’s the front view

And the back view through Big Sur.

Riding down Highway 1 from Point Mugu to Malibu. This is such a scenic piece of road!

Student Design Contest at IMECE2010

The 2010 ASME Student Design Contest finals were held at IMECE2010.  One of the OSU teams won the regional event back in the spring and was sent on to the finals.

All finished.  Now the hard part… waiting for everyone else to compete so the final scores can be determined.

Some other devices.

This was by far the best name of any device.

Lo and behold, the OSU team won first place!  Good job team!

First place!
