Wycliffe Well

Wycliffe Well is known as the UFO capital of Australia.  Little green men greeted us in the roadhouse parking lot.

Several adventure touring bikes pulled up outside of the campground facilities.

The interior of the roadhouse is plastered with papers and news clippings detailing UFO encounters at Wycliffe Well.  The expedition wisely chose to move further south toward Alice rather than dally around such interesting bush folk.

Devils Marbles

Devils Marbles is an odd collection of rock near a low escarpment.  This was the first real topography the expedition encountered since Mt Isa.  Hundreds of kilometres of bitumen and bush separate geographic features of note in the Northern Territory of Australia.

The expedition naturalist sighted a rare rock wallaby.

Onward toward Alice!

We can’t stop here!  This is abbo country!

West toward the NT border

The expedition continued westward into the vast open spaces of northwestern Queensland in pursuit of the Northern Territory border.

The roads continued to be straight and lonesome with few if any other travelers.
