There are a lot of big mountains lurking around on either side of BC Highway 99 west and south of Whistler.
After I rode through Whistler on my motorcycle, the road became much more crowded with tourists and day trippers from Vancouver.

As a little detour from BC Highway 99, I headed up the valley to the little community of D’Arcy at the western end of Anderson Lake. There were quite a few motorcycles here that must have come over from Vancouver for a day trip.
I noticed that there’s a primitive 4×4 road on the north side of the lake that connects back over toward Lillooet. Perhaps I’ll be back this way with my truck someday…
After riding BC Highway 99 up from Lillooet, I stopped at Duffey Lake Provincial Park to take in the view. This place is absolutely gorgeous.
Here’s the end of the lake where I parked. A few other people drifted in and out of the parking area while I was there. I took off when a huge tour bus full of Japanese tourists pulled up and started disgorging passengers.
Further up along the lake in a sunny spot. The air in the shade was pretty cold but in the sun it was very pleasant.
