Dennis the Menace Park, Cannery Row, and The Great Tide Pool

Some friends came down for a weekend in a hotel in Monterey to get out of their house after a year and a half since their last time away from home. We went to Dennis the Menace Park where there’s a cool old steam engine I remember playing on as a kid. Then we walked along the seal beach and down cannery row. Then after that we went out to see the Great Tide Pool by Asilomar. It’s weird seeing other humans we know in person who don’t live in our town after a year and a half of not seeing such folks except over Zoom.

A naughty bear visits Forked Meadow

A young black bear visited my parents at Forked Meadow. They know the resident bear who likes to hang out in the upper meadows and never comes down to the house. This is a young bear maybe displaced by the Creek Fire who is new to the area. He wandered over from the Target Rock Road cabins, past the new shop, along the house, and then drank from the hummingbird feeder by the back door! My dad chased him off a few times over a couple days and then they didn’t see him again. He might have become a rug on someone’s wall if he got into the 4×4 camps up off Rock Creek Road.
