Road Trains and the Wagon Wheel

As the expedition made its way into Cloncurry, a series of road trains passed heading in the opposite direction.  These road trains are used for hauling rock or ore.

Four cars on this one!

A whole yard full of road trains warming up to start the day’s work.

Passing through Cloncurry, the expedition spied the Wagon Wheel.  As the sign says, it is a historic restaurant.  Incidentally, it also has good steaks.

Overnight in Cloncurry

The expedition halted on the outskirts of Cloncurry for the night.  An advanced detachment of men went into town to procure provisions and supplies.  The local Woolworths was particularly instrumental in restocking the canteens of the expedition.
