After doing the Mega Magnolia Transect yesterday, today I went along with other Rising Sun 4×4 Club members on a trail run of Middle St. Vrain and Coney Flats outside of Boulder. This trail was rough the whole way through and a LOT of fun. My little stock 4runner handled it admirably. I feel like I’ve really learned quite a bit this summer to be able to tackle this trail with only needing spotting a couple times.
My plucky little 4runner after the guardian obstacle at the start of Middle St. Vrain.
Heading up the trail.
Lots of tight spots to navigate through.
At the first big water crossing.
Up at the Middle St. Vrain trailhead.
At the largest water crossing where we stopped for lunch.
It was shallow enough when I crossed that it didn’t go over the sill of my doors (no water in the cab! yay!).
Sometimes this can be very deep.
Travis plowing through.
Down the trail.
Airing up after the ride.
We stopped on the Peak to Peak Highway just outside Nederland on the way back into Denver to check out the view.
