Carr Manor

We stayed overnight in Cripple Creek at Carr Manor.  The building once was a school but now houses something in between a boutique hotel and bed and breakfast.

Evening in Cripple Creek

IMG_4541

After checking into Carr Manor for the evening, we walked around Cripple Creek to see what the town looks like after going through several boom and bust cycles over the last 100 years.

IMG_4542

It was rather windy.

IMG_4543

Lots of pretty old buildings in town.

IMG_4544

The town has been somewhat revitalized by limited stakes gambling coming back.  Many of the big buildings on the main drag are either new construction meant to look old or old construction restored for casinos.

IMG_4545 IMG_4546

Even so, there are many vacant lots in the middle of downtown where buildings once stood.

The streets through the middle of town are under construction.  No one I talked to seemed to know why.
