Heather and I went hiking at Mount Galbraith Park today. It is part of the extensive Jefferson County Open Space network. This is the creek at the bottom of Golden Gate Canyon.
Heather ready to head up the mountain.
The road that winds up Golden Gate Canyon.
Crossing a sketchy ice section in the shade. We encountered several very sketchy areas on the hike.
Some big houses with great views live on the hills on the other side of the canyon.
Panorama looking from west to east and to the north of lower Golden Gate Canyon.
North Golden and North Table Mountain.
Heading up the trail.
Looking up toward Mount Galbraith Park.
Looking over the saddle toward South Table Mountain and beyond.
The Coors plant down in Golden.
Coors ahoy!
Huge houses with gorgeous views.
The snowy path in the shade.
Walking through an older fire burn.
Snowy peaks on the continental divide in the distance.
Giants looming in the distance.
Looking west.
Heather looking down toward Golden. The Colorado School of Mines is visible in this photo. Denver is just over Heather’s left shoulder.
At the top of the mountain.
There were a bunch of cactus all over the mountain. I guess we live in a desert!
Big peaks a bit to the north.
Heather looking out to the east.
Pointing toward downtown Denver. Next weekend, the Portland Timbers will be playing the Colorado Rapids. We will be in attendance in the Timbers Army.
From near the top of the mountain.
Golden in all its glory.
Heading down through the snowy shade back to the car. It was a fun little hike.
