Cumberland Pass

We went over Cumberland Pass after going over Tin Cup Pass to get back to our campsite near Pitkin.  It’s a nice easy railroad grade that you could drive in a sedan assuming there isn’t snow on the road.

Up on this mountain to the southwest of Cumberland Pass, there is a strange building that looks kind of like a fire lookout.  We thought we saw evidence of a road going over to it.  According to the internet, I think this is Fairview Peak and the Fairview Peak Fire Lookout.

On our way up to Tin Cup Pass, we stopped at a pullout on the road for some lunch.  Amazingly, the entire Rising Sun 4×4 Club contingent of Toyotas squeezed in.

We had lots of great rigs along for the ride.

We watched someone later on try to drive up this little path and nearly roll their side-by-side off the side of the mountain when they realized that there was no place to turn around.  This is definitely not part of the trail system.

Big storm clouds but we didn’t get rained on while we were on Tin Cup Pass.
