Tikal

An odd Canadian fellow that we met in the hostel.

Dawn over Tikal.

We had front-row seats up on one of the pyramids.

The fog and mist swirled in and out, sometimes revealing the other pyramids and sometimes obscuring them from view.

The howler monkeys in the forests which overrun Tikal are quite noisy in the morning.

All of the other spectators.  We were able to get in on a dawn tour.

Coming down off of our perch.

It’s hard to describe how massive the Tikal site is.  And only a small portion of it is excavated.

Recognize this from a Star Wars movie?

Steep stairs.

A small temple yet to be excavated.

Having a beer at lunch.

Ongoing excavation.

Trees like to grow on everything.

Sietze, Evan, and me up on a temple.

An interesting tree.  And with that, we went back to Flores.

Flores

At the hostel in Flores checking out all of the tours that are offered.

The little marina at sunset.

Sietze has a party in the streets.

We found some tasty treats in the hostel.  And some very good drinks, too.

Evan relaxing in a hammock.
