A Tour of the R/V Oceanus

Heather and I had the opportunity to tour the R/V Oceanus.  This is the latest addition to the OSU research fleet.  It comes from Woods Hole originally and was built in 1975.

The ship looks big on the outside but it isn’t so big on the inside!

The Oceanus was parked behind another vessel.

This is a seismic research/exploration ship.  It was due to do some survey work in California for some faults that are just offshore from a nuclear power plant.  Due to some last minute changes, it ended up in Newport to wait for the next job.

 This thing is HUGE!

Heather’s Parents Visit the Farm

Heather’s parents came to visit my parent’s farm for brunch.  They also checked out some llamas.  This is Goddard.

And Goddard’s feet.  Heather’s mom needed some close-up photos of the feet for an art project.

 Here we all are together.

Day Hike to Duffy Lake

My parents, Brent, Jesi, Heather, and I went on a day hike with a few llamas to Duffy Lake.

The Territory Akubra hat that I purchased at MANSWORLD in Mount Isa for the Mount Isa Rodeo made another appearance on this trip.  Heather found it somewhat difficult to get close to me with my rather large beard and very large hat.
