Paragliding off Treble Cone

On a fine morning, we decided to go paragliding.  We started from here and ended up at the road waaay down below.

Another paraglider was already out early having a good go of it.

All geared up and ready to go!

And they’re off.

Thanks to Wanaka Paragliding for these photos.

Coming in for a landing.

Preparing to step off the planet.

And away we go!

Cars are really small from up high.

It is an exhilarating feeling having nothing underneath you and being powered only by the winds.

Circling around the mountain looking for thermals.

 The landing area far below.

 A waterfall we zoomed by.

Treble Cone

We drove out to Treble Cone, the local ski area, to check on conditions.

We took a wrong turn and ended up next to a herd of reindeer.

The gravel road up to the ski slopes.

It’s gorgeous out in this part of the world.

Random sheep.

Ski slope in sight!

Somewhere down there is a lake.

This is where Kristen and I thought “yeah… this is pretty weaksauce spring skiing conditions.”

Looking down into the valleys below.

Wanaka

We had a great view from our campervan at the holiday park just outside Wanaka.

Our happy little campervan!

A random dinosaur slide in a park by the lake.

Pleasure boats out on the water.

Oh yes, it is exactly what you think it is.

Not sure if this was truly the longest drink or not but let’s assume it was.

Crazy clouds on the mountains.

Yay New Zealand!
