Stari Grad on the Island of Hvar

IMG_1115Kristen and I hopped from the island of Vis to the island of Hvar on a series of ferries.

In Stari Grad, the main city on Hvar, we found some lunch.

IMG_1121This island is much more busy than Vis.

After an excellent meal, we were relaxing in our room when we heard a beautiful two-part harmony aria drifting up from the street below. The son of the hotel’s owner was sitting on the front steps singing with one of his friends. It was an absolutely perfect way to end the day on Hvar.

Ferry to the Island of Vis

IMG_0941

We left Split behind for a ferry ride to the island of Vis.

IMG_0949

Several cruise ships and other large ferries were docked in the port at Split waiting to go somewhere.  The Dalmatian Coast has many islands and lots of ships running here and there.

This was once a heavily protected military base.  Now it is a hidden paradise that a few lucky tourists venture to every year.

Wandering Around Split

STA_0805-STG_0811

Kristen and I found ourselves in the old town of Split.  It is a very interesting city built inside and around an old palace.
