Seal Beach Among Other Things

There is a nice sunrise in Monterey today.

There are lots of seals on Seal Beach today at the Hopkins Marine Station.  They’re fun to watch go in and out of the surf.

Looking north toward Lovers Point.

The Monterey Bay Aquarium is just on the other side of Hopkins Point from Seal Beach.

Looking over toward Marina on the other side of the bay.

There are lots of birds on these rocks by the Seal Beach.

The 2018 Monterey Shootout

We participated in the 2018 Monterey Shootout, a big underwater photography contest.  Heather did quite well, placing 3rd overall.  I placed somewhere around 18th overall which is really good, too.  Not bad for our first photography contest!

There were tons of sea nettles this year.

Here’s my winning photo.  This is from looking straight up at a depth of about 50 feet.  Sea nettles EVERYWHERE!

Just look at all of those sea nettles!

Metridiums and sea nettles.

Heather underneath a sea of sea nettles.

This one is at the end of its life.

This is the silly little montage that I made as part of the contest.
