Meta Lake and the Miners’ Car

Meta Lake was once surrounded by tall old growth trees but now is slowly recovering from the massive blast that Mount St. Helens dealt it in 1980.

The blast pattern can be seen in the fallen trees that were violently pushed to the ground by the power of the volcano.

The miner’s car that was destroyed by the blast.  Some people who were near the volcano that day in May in 1980 didn’t make it out.

Wow what a mountain!  Someone was here when the mountain erupted and took a few photos.  What a place to be to watch death approach.
