Narvik

The train pulls up in Rognan to Bodo.

Somewhere between Rognan and Narvik.

Switching from the train to the bus to continue northward.  The train to Bodo was built by the Nazis using slave labor during World War II.  The road north to Narvik is the unfinished rail bed.  These Norwegian dudes were hanging out where the bus stops.

Tidal flats in Bodo.

The coach that goes northward.

On a ferry.

The other ferry docked as we depart.

Big trucks sat alongside our bus and small cars.

Plying the inner fjords.

Our bus nestled in amongst the other vehicles.

The clouds like hanging out on mountain tops.

Houses out on a lonely stretch of coast.  The only access is by boat.

The signpost in Narvik.

Downtown Narvik.

Out on a fjord near Narvik.

At some point during the year it’s warm enough for this diving platform to be used.

My couchsurfing.org host.

Norway!

Above Narvik.

Up another fjord.

Somewhere up there, a bunch of glaciers are lurking.

Glacial runoff.

On the lookout for sneak-attack glaciers.

As it got dark, we went back to my host’s house for a dinner of reindeer meat stew.  It was quite good and not unlike elk or deer.
