East Lake

We stopped off at East Lake where we saw a bear running through the campground.  It was a young cub so the mom must have been around there somewhere, too.

In the summer there are lots of people running boats on this lake but in the late spring we only saw one or two people out.

Paulina Peak

When we were driving around in Newberry Crater, Paulina Peak really jumped out at us on the road.  There was snow the night before that gave the peak a fresh dusting of powder and really made it pop.

We got a really nice photo from someone who probably has an instagram account and is a lifestyle instagram blogger.  Thanks whoever you were!

Big Obsidian Flow in the Snow

It seems like every time we come to visit the big obsidian flow, there is snow on at least part of it.  The last time when we came out with Zach and Vera, we climbed over some big snow drifts.

This time there was far more snow even though the timing wasn’t that far off from the previous trip.

We didn’t do the whole loop this time because we didn’t feel like potentially sliding down a bunch of snow and into a bunch of sharp rocks.
