Whanganui

Whanganui is a cute town tucked away off the beaten path in New Zealand.  The downtown is adorable and has good chai lattes.

We climbed up this tower for the view.

It’s a WWI memorial for the diggers.

View from the top.

It was super windy up there.

Stencil art.

When the hooter is sounded, please vacate immediately.

Trout on a house!

Wai-O-Tapu Thermal Wonderland

The Wai-O-Tapu Thermal Wonderland is a fascinating place full of stinky mud pots, stinky hot lakes, and stinky geysers.  Kristen and I wandered around for quite some time taking in the sulfur fumes.

Don’t fall in!

Seriously.  Don’t fall in.

This stuff is greener than a tennis ball.

We went over to watch the eruption of the Lady Knox Geyser.  I must say, it was a little anti-climatic.  Especially after having seen the geysers in Yellowstone National Park.

The mud pits can make some nasty sounds.

Yay stinky sulfur thermal wonderland parks!
