On the Pier at Squamish

After spending a few days riding through the hinterlands of British Columbia, I finally made it back to the salt water at Squamish.  I went down to the old pier to hang out for an hour or two in the warm sun.

At one point, big vessels used to take on cargo here.

People sometimes forget that the Honda Pacific Coast has a sumptuous trunk that can hold a lot of cargo.  It’s all a person really needs for a multi-day trip.

The La De Da Parade in Yachats

We headed down to Yachats for the annual 4th of July La De Da Parade and festivities.  This is one of our favorite annual activities in Oregon.

The guy in the wizard hat is the mayor.  Everyone else is the town council.

The umbrella twirlers are always a popular part of the parade.

Here’s the Yachats PRIDE group!

Grass skirts coming by!

A weiner dog all dressed up.

More people coming through!

The green flash group coming through!  They always flash green on the 4th of July.

A huge rubber duck going by to remind everyone to buy their rubber duck race raffel tickets.

A big tyrannosaurus went by in front of the duck.

A bunch of umbrella jellyfish!

After the parade we went down to the Yachats River to watch the duck races.  We didn’t win this year but maybe next year!

A Sunny June Day in Oceanside

It was so nice and sunny that we couldn’t resist going out to Oceanside to enjoy the Oregon coast.

The tide was very low so we got to explore some new areas.

The sea stacks offshore.

We had lunch at a cute little cafe in Oceanside.

The ocean sure is beautiful.
