Cape Meares Lighthouse

This beautiful little lighthouse is a great place to go check out on a sunny day.  The Cape Meares Lighthouse has an incredible history that the volunteers who open up the building in the summer are happy to tell you all about.

Some of the rotation mechanism for the light.

Because the cape is so tall, the lighthouse doesn’t have to be.

Looking inside the lens assembly.  Someone shot at the lighthouse a few years back and damaged a few of the lenses.

It’s a very pretty little light house!

The Octopus Tree

We headed up onto Cape Meares to check out the Octopus Tree and the view.

The famous octopus tree!  It has a few less limbs than when I was a kid but it’s still really cool to check out.

Looking south toward Oceanside.  The hidden beach that you have to get to through the lava tube is visible from this angle.

Netarts Lunch

We went out to Netarts for lunch at The Schooner with a great view of Netarts Bay.

There were a number of people who were crabbing around the bay.

A very shallow boat parking area in the boat basin.

Here we are on the beach!  One of our favorite spots!

Looking north and west out of Netarts Bay toward some offshore sea stacks.
