The La De Da Parade in Yachats

We headed down to Yachats for the annual 4th of July La De Da Parade and festivities.  This is one of our favorite annual activities in Oregon.

The guy in the wizard hat is the mayor.  Everyone else is the town council.

The umbrella twirlers are always a popular part of the parade.

Here’s the Yachats PRIDE group!

Grass skirts coming by!

A weiner dog all dressed up.

More people coming through!

The green flash group coming through!  They always flash green on the 4th of July.

A huge rubber duck going by to remind everyone to buy their rubber duck race raffel tickets.

A big tyrannosaurus went by in front of the duck.

A bunch of umbrella jellyfish!

After the parade we went down to the Yachats River to watch the duck races.  We didn’t win this year but maybe next year!

Odell Lake

We took our Albino Rhino out to Odell Lake to camp out for the night with some friends who had a couple of boats and some other toys for the long holiday weekend.

Our setup, as always, is to load all of our gear into the truck and go wherever the adventure takes us.

You never quite know where you’ll end up when you take a Toyota out into the woods.

Sometimes you’ll end up camping next to Odell Lake with an awesome view of Diamond Peak.

Other times you’ll end up at Waldo Lake checking out the clean, clear water.

No matter what, it’s always an adventure.

First Trip in the Tillamook State Forest

I headed out with my new buddy Matt into the Tillamook State Forest to check out a route that goes from Brown’s Camp to Tillamook on trails and gravel roads.

Here’s Matt’s sweet 80 series Land Cruiser.  It’s big enough for his whole family.

Heading up Firebreak Five.

Following Matt down Archer’s Firebreak.

Up at the end of Archers Ridge on the west end with a great view of the western part of the coast range.
