A big storm really hammered the Monterey Peninsula the last few days. Out in Pacific Grove and along Asilomar, the ocean came up onto the road and pushed towards houses, and onto the golf course. The city is working to push the sand off the roads and repair the damage. Out at Asilomar, many boulders were lifted up off the beach and thrown into the parking area. There was a lot of energy involved in making this happen!
Shortest day of the year
I went out to Asilomar for the shortest day of the year. The sunset was spectacular. Longer days and better times are ahead.
Monarch Butterflies and along the ocean
We went to the butterfly sanctuary in Pacific Grove after work to take a look at the butterflies. This year there are at least a hundred monarch butterflies in the sanctuary which is way better than a year or two ago when there were zero. But it’s still a far cry from when I was a kid and there would be millions dripping from every tree.
Afterwards we walked along the ocean.
